mourni fatmi | group exhibitions | Brooklyn Musuem, New York, Museo Nacional Centre de Arte Reina Sofia, Spain & Boghossian Foundation, Belgium

mounir fatmi is part of The Slipstream: Reflection, Resilience, and Resistance in the Art of Our Time at Brooklyn Museum. The exhibition draws on examples from the museum’s contemporary art collection to contemplate the profound disruption that occurred in 2020. Borrowing its title from an aeronautical term that refers to the pull of the current that is left in the wake of a large and powerful object, the exhibition examines the placement and displacement of power that runs through American history and continues today. The exhibition articulates a visual dialogue that reflects artistic production in three historical moments, from independence to the present, through a significant selection of pieces that show the diversity of initiatives, the vitality of artistic debates and exchanges interdisciplinary in Morocco.
