‘Hacer Noche’ group exhibition in Mexico to feature Kendell Geers, David Goldblatt, Haroon Gunn-Salie, William Kentridge, and David Koloane

Hacer Noche is a new initiative bringing contemporary art and artists from Southern Africa to the town of Oaxaca in Mexico for a series of exhibitions, residencies, publications and a conference (10 November – 5 February). The project is the first of its kind to explore historic cross-cultural links between Mexico and Southern Africa through the lens of contemporary art. Hacer Noche explores this connection using the theme of death and differing understandings of its occurrence as a means for finding shared ways of relating to the history of these two postcolonial regions – prominently highlighted on the programme by William Kentridge’s danse macabre installation, More Sweetly Play the Dance, alongside work by Kendell Geers, David Goldblatt, Haroon Gunn-Salie, David Koloane and others.
