This work comprises six conversations between veteran women activists in the struggle against apartheid, and their ‘granddaughters’. The free ranging discussions cover past histories and life in South Africa today. The activists featured are Amina Cachalia, Caroline Motsoaledi, Vesta Smith, Rebecca Kotane, Ilse Fischer and Brigalia Bam, each who had been documented in Williamson's earlier All Our Mothers series. Cachalia and Motsoaledi were also included in Wiliamson's 1980s series A Few South Africans.
