Penny Siopis’ recent paintings and installations of found objects are stimulated by the idea and experience of ‘Shame’ as both a public and a psychological condition. The installations present objects as cultural remnants - evidence - of shameful histories, and the paintings manifest a more intimate imaginary - fantasy - of shame given physical form.
