A exhibition dedicated to Shirin Neshat's 'Looking for Oum Kulthum' shows at the Musée de l’Elysée

Two years after the unveiling of her film Looking for Oum Kulthum at the 2017 Venice Film Festival, Shirin Neshat displays a series of works from the eponymous series at the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne (22 June – 25 August). The exhibition features eight photographs and two videos of the actresses from Looking for Oum Kulthum, which is about an Iranian film director living in exile who embarks on her dream project of making a film about the legendary Egyptian singer. The photographs are portraits of the actresses embodying Oum Kulthum at different stages of her life and career, overlaid with Neshat’s signature Farsi and Arabic calligraphy.
